About
Dr Alastair Paynter, SFSS is a strategist, author and historian. With experience liaising at the highest levels, he is the London Correspondent for the Defense & Foreign Affairs group of publications published by the International Strategic Studies Association (ISSA), including the government-only Strategic Analysis and the print journal Strategic Policy. He is a Senior Fellow at the College of Fellows of the ISSA and is involved in a special working project of the ISSA on strategic options for monarchy and traditional forms of governance in the 21st century.
After gaining his PhD in History at the University of Southampton in 2018 he spent several years as a visiting academic. He is also the author of a subscription-based newsletter, Bow of Odysseus, at bowofodysseus.substack.com.
